STRUTTURE IPOGEE DI ORVIETO ETRUSCA: PROPOSTA DI INQUADRAMENTO TIPOLOGICO

Sommario Nel sottosuolo della città di Orvieto sono state censite un alto numero di cavità artificiali, all’interno delle quali è possibile identificare alcune strutture pertinenti al periodo etrusco della polis di Velzna. Si propone in questa sede un inquadramento tipologico elaborato sulla base delle informazioni desunte dalla letteratura archeologica e dall’esame autoptico, suddividendo cunicoli, cisterne e condotti verticali in più tipi e sottotipi.

Abstract The underground section of the city of Orvieto has a great number of man-made caves, where it is possible to find structures related to the Etruscan period of the polis of Velzna. Here an attempt is made to organize a typology according to the information available from previous archaeological records and autoptical survey, dividing tunnels, cisterns and vertical shafts in types and sub-types.
